Make It a Water Park Weekend!

Here at Liv North Scottsdale, it’s easy to head to the pool for some summer fun, but if you’re up for something a little different, head out to a water park in the area for a weekend adventure. Today in our blog post, we have tips for summer water-play day trips — plus suggestions about where to go here in Arizona.

Day Trip Tips

  • Prepare your car. Clean out and organize the car a day or so before you’re planning your day trip. Take out anything you won’t be needing that might be laying around such as sports equipment, trash, books, or anything else that’s taking up space. This will make packing up the car much easier on you.

  • Make a checklist. The last thing you want to do is forget the sunscreen or water. Make a checklist of all the things you want to take with you for the day, and cross it off once it’s loaded in the car.

  • Use an app to plan your route. With some apps, you can get up-to-the-minute traffic conditions. Figure out ahead of time about how much time it will take you to get to your destination.

Water Park Tips

  • Be prepared for the day and dress appropriately. Sunscreen, hat, and sunglasses are essential. Take along a t-shirt for when you need a break from the sun.

  • Hydration, hydration, hydration.Yes, there is water all around, but be sure to get enough inside too! Drink plenty of water throughout the day and try to avoid caffeinated sodas or drinks with artificial sweeteners as they will tend to dehydrate. Opt instead for plenty of water.

  • Pace yourself. Don’t stay in direct sunlight for too long —no one wants to end up with sunstroke! Don’t overexert yourself to avoid getting too tired. It’s okay to take a break to eat and rest, there will still be plenty of time to enjoy the park.

  • If you are taking kids, be sure to keep a close eye on them. If they can’t swim independently, hang out in the shallow area. Spray and misting areas are a great place to safely take a break with little ones. Tag team with another adult to enjoy all the park offers.

  • Take a waterproof case for your money, ID, and phone. No one wants to end up replacing an expensive phone because it got wet (and you can get some great pics of your day, too).

  • Get there early so you can park close to the entrance. It will be less crowded early on, and at the end of the day, you will appreciate not having to drag everything the entire distance of the parking lot.
